Obituary
Wilma Jean Palermo, 93, of Groves passed away on Thursday, August 24, 2023 at her home.
She was born July 20, 1930 in Mexia, Texas to Clara and Ewell Herring. She grew up in Port Arthur, Texas and married her husband Edward John Palermo Sr. in 1949. She enjoyed a career in retail sales and real estate for most of her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward Palermo Sr., her son Edward Palermo Jr., his wife Mary Palermo and a great-granddaughter Gabrielle Palermo.
She is survived by her sister Yvonne Herring Miller of Nederland, sons Charles Palermo and wife Betty of Groves and Michael Palermo and wife Debbie of Groves. She is also survived by grandchildren Brenda Palermo Withers, Joseph Palermo, John Palermo III, Teresa Palermo Young, Charles Palermo Jr., Megan Palermo Woodard, Rachel Palermo, Michael Palermo, Timothy Palermo, Christopher Palermo and Anthony Palermo, twenty great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves with a wake service at 6:30 P.M.. A service to honor Wilma's life will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Wednesday at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
Serving as pallbearers will be Brian Palermo, Charles Palermo Jr, Kylor Palermo, Michael Palermo, Timothy Palermo, Kaelan Ramos, Steven Ramos and Jason Withers. Honorary Pallbearer will be Anthony Palermo.
