Obituary

Wendy Lee Blackwell

Wendy Lee Blackwell, age 72, resident of Groves, Texas, peacefully passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Hermann Memorial Hospital Southwest in Houston.

Born on May 21, 1951, in Mankato, Minnesota, Wendy was the beloved daughter of Vivian Lee (Delaney) and Alfred Ernest Hoffmeister. At the tender age of 6, Wendy's family relocated to Southeast Texas, where she established roots and became a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Groves. Wendy dedicated over 55 years of her life to the artistry of hairdressing, serving countless clients across various salons in the region, culminating her career at Nail’s Etc. in Groves. A compassionate soul, Wendy's care extended beyond the salon chair, as she often tenderly styled her clients' hair for their final farewell to their family and friends. Wendy cherished moments spent with her family, leaving behind cherished memories for those who knew and loved her.

Preceding her in eternal rest are her beloved parents, Alfred and Vivian Hoffmeister.

Wendy's memory will forever be treasured by her devoted husband, Darrell Blackwell of Groves; her son, Hubbard Lee Hardin III of Bridge City; her sister, Deanna Cawthon of Fannett; and a wide circle of extended family and friends.

A memorial visitation to honor Wendy's life will be held on Friday, April 5, 2024, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of the funeral home.
