Vernell Anderson Phillips

Vernell Anderson Phillips, 71, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, January 8, 2023 at Harbor Hospice House in Beaumont.

She was born on May 19, 1951 in Hartford, Alabama to Jesse Junior Anderson and Dorothy Faye Williams Anderson. Vernell has been a resident of the Port Arthur area for 69 years. She was a devoted homemaker. Vernell was a member of Glad Tidings Assembly of God Church in Port Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Vernell is survived by her loving husband, Mark Phillips of Port Arthur; her son, Richard Bagley of Groves; her two daughters, Lisa Dennis and husband Donny of Nederland, Bridget Ramirez of Port Arthur; her five grandchildren, Celeste Melancon, Sabrina Melancon, Katie Melancon, Rodger East and Caden Bagley along with 7 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Diane Bashan of Groves and her brother, Jesse Anderson and his significant other Rachel True.

Visitation will be on Thursday, January 12, 2023 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Vernell’s life will be at 11:00 AM Friday, January 13, 2023 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson.
