A Life Remembered

Obituary

Sylvia Ann Thomas

Sylvia Ann Thomas, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, quietly passed away on February 7, 2026, in her lifelong hometown of Port Arthur, Texas. Born on January 6, 1937, Sylvia blossomed into a remarkable woman whose love for her family and friends will forever be cherished and remembered.

Sylvia's life was dedicated to nurturing her loved ones, and she found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. A devoted member of St. Catherine Catholic Church, she carried her faith as a guiding light throughout her life. Her greatest passions included tending to her garden and planting beautiful flowers and she had a special talent for cooking, often preparing delicious meals for family and friends, wrapping them in warmth and creating memories around the dinner table. Her culinary delights were legend among her loved ones, with each recipe seasoned with love.

Sylvia is survived by her cherished daughter, Melinda Cross, and her husband, James; her sons Eric Thomas and his wife, Patricia, and Randy Thomas; along with four grandchildren, Kyler, Austin, Erin, and Aiden, and three great-grandchildren, Braylen, Karter, and Connor. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Darrell Marchand. This beautiful family reflects the essence of Sylvia's nurturing spirit, and her legacy will continue to thrive in their hearts.

Preceding her in death were her devoted husband, Tommy Thomas, and her parents, Justice Marchand and Martha Melancon-Marchand, who instilled in her the values of kindness and compassion.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home 5200 West Parkway Street Groves, Texas, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Following the service, Sylvia Thomas will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves, Texas.

Though Sylvia’s earthly journey has come to an end, her spirit will forever bloom in the hearts of those she loved. She leaves behind an indelible mark on the lives she touched, reminding us all of the importance of family, faith, and cultivating beauty in the world. Sylvia will be deeply missed, yet her love and zest for life will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.
