Stephen Dale Guy passed away peacefully on June 15, 2026, in Beaumont, Texas, at the age of 67. Born on October 9, 1958, in Port Arthur, Texas, Steve was known for his unwavering work ethic, meticulous attention to detail, and deep devotion to his family. Whether at work or at home, he believed that anything worth doing was worth doing right.
Known simply as “Steve” to those who loved him, he was a quiet, thoughtful man with an insatiable curiosity about the world around him. He seemed to know something about almost everything—not because he claimed to, but because he was always reading, researching, learning, and figuring out how things worked. Whether it was wiring a home, repairing a piece of equipment, planning a project, or researching an unfamiliar topic, friends, family, and coworkers knew Steve was someone they could call. And if he didn’t already know the answer, they knew he would find it.
Those same qualities defined both his career and his life. A Master Electrician by trade, Steve possessed the mind of an engineer and the eye of an architect. No project was too small to deserve his full attention. Whether building a swing set for his kids, crafting a toolbox, or constructing a fence, every project reflected the pride, precision, and craftsmanship that became his signature—always with a unique twist. The things he built were more than well-made—they were lasting expressions of his love for the people who would use them.
More than any accomplishment, Steve was most proud of his family. He shared 43 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Melinda, and took great pride in the lives of his children, Christopher and Dana. Becoming “Pawpaw” to his grandchildren—Sutton, Callan, Silas, Sloan, and Connor—was one of the greatest joys of his life. Whether teaching, building, or simply spending time together, he treasured every moment and created memories they will carry with them forever.
Born as the eighth of nine children, Steve never lost his deep appreciation for family. Growing up with seven older brothers and a younger sister shaped his lifelong loyalty and love for his extended family. He remained close to his siblings throughout his life and treasured the time they spent together.
Steve is survived by his beloved wife of 43 years, Melinda Guy; his son, Christopher Guy, and daughter-in-law, Kiley; his daughter, Dana Cherry, and son-in-law, Clifton; his cherished grandchildren, Sutton Guy, Callan Cherry, Silas Guy, Sloan Guy, and Connor Cherry; his brothers, Richard Guy and his wife, Vickie, David Guy and his wife, Darnell, Tim Guy and his wife, Donna; and his sister, Linda Moore and her husband, Johnny.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Estern Emory Guy and Elzaty Elizabeth Guy, and his brothers, Woody Guy, Jimmy Guy, John Guy, and Danny Guy.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Clayton-Thompson Funeral Directors, 5200 West Parkway, Groves, Texas. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a graveside service at 12:15 p.m. at Oak Bluff Cemetery in Port Neches.
Steve lived his life with quiet integrity and an unwavering belief that anything worth doing was worth doing right. That example lives on in the family he loved, the things he built, and the countless lives he touched. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy will endure for generations.
