Sharon Theresa Schexnayder Kent

Sharon Theresa Schexnayder Kent, 71, of Groves passed away on Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Sharon was born on September 19, 1948 to parents, Annie Mae Vallow and Bruce John Schexnayder, She had lived in the Port Arthur and Groves area most of her life. Sharon found her passion in life and worked for 25 years, which was being a loving and caring caregiver. Sharon enjoyed reading, cooking for family and friends and she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Sharon was a loving person who will be dearly missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Douglas Michael Kent, her sisters, Doraine Stenmark, Viola Brumfield, Margie Case and Ann Gagon.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Shelly Klima of Groves, her sons, Darren Porter and his wife, Jennifer of Hemphill, Kevin Porter of Mauriceville, her brother, James Wynne Schexnayder and wife, Darlene of Baton Rouge, LA. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, January 5, 2020 from 2:30 PM until 5:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a memorial service held at 4 PM at the funeral home. Officiating the service will be Rev. Kenny Mallett.
