Obituary
Ronnie Gene Hoelzer, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2025, at the age of 90 in Orange, Texas. Born on September 9, 1935, in Port Arthur, Texas, Ronnie was a man who lived his life with dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to his family and community.
A proud graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954, Ronnie went on to forge a successful career as the owner of Lloyd's RV Center. His entrepreneurial spirit and hard work allowed him to make a significant impact in his field, and he was well-respected by his peers and customers alike. Beyond his professional achievements, Ronnie was known for his generous heart and his love for helping others. His kindness and readiness to lend a hand were hallmarks of his personality, touching the lives of many throughout his community.
In addition to his thriving career, Ronnie proudly served in the National Guard, contributing to his country during a time of need. His service reflected his commitment to not only his family but also to the greater good.
Ronnie's love for travel and his enthusiasm for gambling were among the many ways he embraced life’s adventures. He built several homes over the years, each one a testament to his skill and dedication. However, it was undoubtedly his family that brought him the greatest joy and fulfillment.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Peggy Hoelzer; daughters, Julie Campbell and her husband, Glenn and Elizabeth Balsano; sons, Chris Hoelzer, M.C. Schmidt, and his wife, Ronalda, as well as Mike Schmidt and his wife, Balinda. Ronnie was the proud grandfather of 16 grandchildren and had numerous great-grandchildren, each of whom he cherished deeply.
Ronnie was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd Wesley Hoelzer and Mazie K. Fuselier; his brother, Gerald "Jerry" Hoelzer; and his beloved son, David Hoelzer, and daughter, Debbie Flynn. Their memories live on in the hearts of those who loved and admired him.
A visitation will be held on September 18, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home, 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas 77619, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM. Ronnie will then be laid to rest in Greenlawn Memorial Park, at 3900 Twin City Highway, Groves, Texas 77619.
