Reba Catherine Bowling

Reba Catherine Dunn Bowling, 89, of Port Neches, Texas, passed awayTuesday, February 22, 2022, at Pelican Bay Assisted Living, Beaumont, Texas.

Reba was born February 2, 1933, in Fairfield, Alabama, to Franklin Eugene and Frances Laura Higgins Dunn.  She was the youngest of four daughters.  She graduated from McAdory High School, McAdory, Alabama, as a member of the class of 1951.  On October 1, 1950, Reba married her high school sweetheart, James Braxton Bowling, in Columbus, Mississippi.

In 1958, Reba and James moved to their home in Port Neches, Texas, where she resided until her move to Pelican Bay Assisted Living in November of 2014.  Reba retired from First National Bank Port Neches in 1998, having worked in banking since 1967.  As well as her work and family, Reba was active in church activities.  She loved to sing and was a member of the choir of First Baptist Church Port Neches.  She also enjoyed being a member of the Amazing Grace senior group.  After moving to Pelican Bay, Reba participated in activities such as sing-a-longs and playing games.  There were very few Bingo games that she missed.

Reba was very creative and enjoyed working with her hands, especially sewing, counted cross stitch and embroidery.  After retiring, she traveled with friends and on tours and filled several photo albums with remembrances.  One of her favorite trips was an Alaskan cruise.

Reba is survived by her children:  Brenda Bedair and husband Michael of Orangefield, Texas; James R Bowling D.O. and wife Patricia of Kountze, Texas; Frances Heil and husband Glenn of Brookland, Texas; and Henry Bowling and wife Teresa of Port Neches, Texas.  She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband James Braxton Bowling; her parents Franklin and Laura Dunn of Hueytown, Alabama, and her sisters, Sara King of South Carolina, Louise Cannon of Alabama, and Dorothy Coffer of Alabama.

Reba was loved by everyone who knew her and will be missed by all.

Visitation will be at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 39 th Street, Groves, Texas, Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.  Services will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, Friday, February 25, 2022, at 2:00PM, with burial immediately following at Oak Bluff Cemetery.

Donations in her memory may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of America.
