In Loving Memory of Randall (Randie) (Rooster) Wayne Cooper
Randall Wayne Cooper, 67, of Groves, Texas died Monday, June 24, 2019. He was born November 9, 1951 in St. Mary’s Hospital, Port Arthur, Texas, to Berdie Marie Cooper and Marvin Dwain Cooper.
Randall graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1970 and enjoyed many happy memories of school friends and his beloved maroon and gold, over the years.
After graduation, he went to Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas, where he played baseball. Randie received Lamar Cardinal’s “Bob Frederick Award” presented by Lamar University Baseball Players Association in February 2019. Randie worked as an operator for 44 years and five months for Texaco, Star Enterprise and Motiva combined.
Randie enjoyed fishing and boating with his family and friends at his camp.
He was preceded in death by his parents Berdie and Marvin Cooper.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Jannie Horn Cooper; daughter, Shawna Cooper Buchanan and husband, John Matthew Buchanan of Port Neches; son, Shawn James Cooper and significant other, Amy Andrepont of Groves; granddaughter, Kenzie Marie Buchanan; grandson, Cooper Matthew Buchanan, Eben Joseph King and Cameron Buchanan. He is also survived by his brother, Ronald Dwain Cooper of San Antonio, Texas; sister, Roxie Annette Cooper of Nederland; godfather/uncle, Daniel Harrington and wife, Shirley Harrington of Port Acres; uncle, Norris Harrington of Fred, Texas; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Randall’s life will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 2, 2019 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. J. C. Coon, Rev. Joe Driscoll and Deacon Scott Wilson, officiating. Burial will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday in Magnolia Springs Cemetery outside of Kirbyville, Texas.
