R. D. Garvin

R. D. Garvin, 92 , of Beaumont passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Calderwoods Nursing Home in Beaumont.

He was born on August 16, 1929 in Hamshire, Texas to R.C. Garvin and Effie Falcon Garvin. R. D. was a longtime resident of Port Arthur before moving to Beaumont over 20 years ago. He served in the National Guard. R.D. began his career at Gulf Oil as an auto mechanic and retired as a supervisor after 38 years. He was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Greta Dean Garvin and his son, R. D. “Davey” Garvin, Jr.

R. D. is survived by his daughter, Patti Serio and her husband, Jay of Beaumont; his three sons, Greg Garvin of Nederland, Brent Garvin and his wife, Fortune of Port Arthur, Paul Garvin of Jacksonville, Texas; his three grandchildren, Andrew Kimble, Brook Chancellor and Hope Serio along with five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Grillo of Beaumont as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 1, 2022 in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves. Arrangements are under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.
