Obituary

Peggy Ann Edwards

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Peggy Ann Edwards, who departed this life on January 4, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on May 22, 1932, in McComb, Mississippi, to loving parents whose resilience and strength would be mirrored in their daughter.

Peggy dedicated her professional life as a secretary to the Superintendent at Port Neches Independent School District, where she became a respected and cherished member of the educational community. Her work and warm spirit had a lasting impact on many, and she was known for her kindness and dedication to her role.

In addition to her career, Peggy was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Groves, where she found solace and community. She actively participated in various church activities and remained committed to serving others throughout her life. Among her proudest accomplishments, she embraced her involvement with the Wounded Warrior Project, demonstrating her compassion for those who served our nation.

Peggy was a woman of diverse interests and talents; she enjoyed being part of the local Square Dancing Club and Traveler Club. Moreover, as an artist, she expressed her creative side through gardening, always with a keen eye for beauty in flowers and hummingbirds. In her home, she shared her love for sewing and cooking, skills that nourished both body and spirit for her friends and family alike.

Peggy is survived by her loving family, which includes her son, William Edwards, and his wife Kimberly, of Groves; her daughter, Teresa Perry, and her husband, Jim, of Groves; her daughter, Cindy Morrison, of Vidor; and her daughter, Donna Walker, and her fiancé, Justin Marchel, of Bullard. Her legacy also lives on through her nine cherished grandchildren: Lacy Perry Dixon and her husband Rick, Justin Edwards, Chad Edwards, Cory Perry and his wife Clarissa, Lee Morrison, Jack Morrison, Kaleb Walker and his wife Carley, Jacob Walker and his wife Lana, and Hannah Simonds and her husband Kyle, along with twelve great-grandchildren. A special place in her heart was reserved for a dear nephew, Jimmy Frazier, whose love enriched her life.

Peggy has been reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Jack Cliett Edwards, as well as her parents and siblings, including brothers John Odom and Billy Odom, and sisters Mary Frances Frazier, Imogene Johnson, and Doris Ingram.

Visitation will be held on January 9, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at Clayton - Thompson Funeral Directors, located at 5200 W. Parkway, Groves, TX 77619.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Groves, TX.
