Oma Jean Teixeira, 83, of Nederland passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care in Beaumont.

Jean was born on May 2, 1939 at home in Livingston Parrish, Louisiana to parents Ruby (Sullivan) and Homer Cogley. She had lived in the Nederland area since 1982, prior in Denham Spring, LA. She manager Hillcrest Apartments for 20 plus years and was a member of Crossroad Fellowship Church. Jean enjoyed working in her flower garden, canning and making jellies. Jean was a loving and caring person who will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Ruby Cogley, her husband, Joseph D. Teixeira, her brothers, Jimmy Cogley, John “Buddy” Cogley, Carl Cogley and her sister, Lessie Lockhart.

Jean is survived by her daughters, Carlene Ribble, Shannon Raleigh, her sister, Sherian Devall, her grandchildren, Erica Blair Weldon, Kasey Ribble, Adam Weldon, Allison Weldon and her great grandchild, Olivia Sanders. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 22, 2023 in Thompson Memorial Chapel at 3:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a gathering of family and friends from 2:00 PM until service time. Private burial will be held at a later date.
