Norman Earl Tompkins

Norman Earl Tompkins, 78, of Port Arthur passed away on January 13, 2021 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

He was born on November 9, 1942 in Port Arthur, Texas to his parents, Richard Tompkins and Margaret Lyons Tompkins. Norman was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. He received an Associate’s degree in Electrical from Lamar. Norman retired from Texaco/Motiva as an electrician after 37 years of service. He served in the US Marine Corp reserves for 8 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, James Alan and Randall Keith Tompkins.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 38 years , Cathy Kibodeaux Tompkins of Port Arthur; his son, David Tompkins of Beaumont; his daughter, Dana Tompkins of Beaumont; Step-son, Jody Dean Haley and his wife, Linda of North Dakota; Step-daughter, Cheri Haley Tapp of Arkansas; his grandchildren, Victoria Jackson, Amy Tompkins, Ryan Tompkins, Jourdyn May Verrett and her husband, Chance, Macy Tapp, Troy Woody and his wife, Kalisha, Gabriel Haley along with six great grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Linda Perea and her husband, Derrell of Groves, Cheryl Simpson and her husband, Butch of Spring; his brother, Gary Tompkins and his wife, Debbie of Groves along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 4:00 PM till 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Norman’s life will be at 6:00 PM Tuesday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson.  Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson. Due to the Covid- 19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors are required to wear a face mask or facial coverings and practice social distancing as mandated by state and county officials.
