Obituary

Laverne Hernandez, 78, of Katy, Texas passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at her home.

She was born on November 21, 1940 to her parents, William Yates and Mildred Louise Cates in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Laverne was raised and lived in Port Arthur for most of her life and moving to Katy in 2015. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1959. Laverne worked as a cashier at JPOTS-Howards, bar manager at Primo Doc’s and VFW.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her half-brother, Frank Edward Yates, her husband, Lynn Bob Rampy and her daughter, Lori Louise Rampy.

She is survived by her three sons, Kendall Lynn Rampy and his wife, Denise of Vidor, William Granger and his spouse, Glenn of Katy, Dean Dolan Hernandez and his wife, Deborah of Chula Vista, California, her ten grandchildren, Brinton Shay Rampy, Kendall Michael Rampy, Megan Michelle Rampy, Alexis Diane Rampy, Ashley Daume, Brian Granger, Brandon Granger, Glenn Granger, Jr., Nicholas Dean Hernandez, Jared Luis Edwardo Hernandez along with 13 great grandchildren, her half-brother, Gregory Yates and wife, Andrea of Santa Barbara, California as well as her ex-husband, Edward Hernandez of Port Arthur.

Visitation will be on Sunday, September 15, 2019 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Laverne’s life will be at 10:00 AM Monday, September 16, 2019 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
