Obituary

Michael John Rodrigue, 64, of Port Arthur passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas.

He was born on August 2, 1958 in Laredo, Texas to Oray George Rodrigue and Jo Ann Baer Rodrigue. Michael graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1977. He lived in the Port Arthur area for most of his life. Michael worked as a paramedic with Beaumont EMS and retired as a supervisor after 28 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Patrick Rodrigue.

Michael is survived by his sisters, Joan Cormier of Georgetown, Texas, Debra Doroin and husband David of Groves, Evelina Warren and husband Bruce of Austin, Texas along with six nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Sunday, June 25, 2023 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Monday, June 26, 2023 at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Another Baer cousin lost too soon. Although I have only visited with Michael several times throughout my life, I have always been blessed in knowing that God has given all the Baer family descendants an abundant history filled with family treasures. I have known for years that Michael has been serving Port Arthur as an EMT, caring for the lives of others while enduring lifelong illnesses himself. My deepest sympathies go out to his sisters and my cousins, Joan, Debbie and Evalina. Michael and Patrick have been reunited with Uncle Rod and Aunt JoAnn in their heavenly home that is promised to us. Big Hugs from cousin Sandra

My heart is shattered with the passing of my hero. He was the best father that he didn’t have to be, and the best Crawdad ever to my boys. Our hearts are heavy, but our hearts go out to his sister’s, nieces, nephews, and to all that knew and loved him. We love you, Crawdad. Thank you for loving us. I was so hurt to hear of Mike's passing. For years I worked with him at the City until he retired. He was always so nice to me and always good for a laugh. He was such a good guy with a tender heart. Eaerth's loss is Heaven's gain. God bless the family.
