Obituary
Martha A. Arriola, 92, of Port Arthur, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 in Baytown, Texas.
Martha was born on December 14, 1930 in Port Arthur, Texas to parents Consuelo (Sanchez) and Reynaldo Arredondo. Big Martha (as she called herself) was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur and had lived the last few months in League City. She was a member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Port Arthur. She was a homemaker, loved collecting antiques, decorating her home with chickens and roosters loved the companionship of cats, listening to music and going dancing in her younger years. Big Martha was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reynaldo and Consuelo Arredondo, her husband of 57 years in 2015 when he passed, Manuel Reyes Arriola, her brothers, Alexander Arredondo, Uvaldo Arredondo, Perfecto Rodriguez, her sisters, Argentina Talamantez and Angelica Watson.
Big Martha is survived by her children, Laura Hurst and her husband, Ralph of League City, Andrew Arredondo and his wife, Yolanda of Port Neches and her sister, Delia Walker of Nederland. She is also survived by her four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
