Marsha Sue West, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, in League City, Texas. Born on March 9, 1948, in Port Arthur, Texas, she lived a life full of dedication, compassion, and a commitment to serving others.
Marsha devoted her professional life to Child Protective Services, where she worked tirelessly to ensure the safety and well-being of children. Her commitment to this noble cause reflected her personal characteristics; she was known for always taking care of others, finding joy in lifting up those around her. Beyond her vocation, her educational journey culminated in earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology with a minor in Criminology, which solidified her lifelong commitment to advocacy and support for those in need.
As a cherished member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas, Marsha embraced the values of her heritage while actively participating in community endeavors. She found happiness in simple pleasures, such as enjoying margaritas, eating chips and salsa, and spending quality time with her family. Marsha was also eager to learn new skills and showed relentless enthusiasm in her pursuit of acquiring new languages, particularly Spanish.
Marsha leaves behind a loving family who will carry on her legacy of kindness and strength. She is survived by her devoted daughter, Stephanie Ann Reed, and son-in-law, Roy Reed Jr. She was a proud grandmother to three grandchildren: Trey Reed and spouse, Fabian Rios; Bryan Reed; and Devin May and spouse, Thomas. Marsha also had two great-grandchildren, Kambree Reed and Kennedy Reed, who brought her immense joy and fulfillment.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her, including her extended family and friends. Marsha was preceded in death by her parents, Marshall and Mildred West, who instilled in her the virtues she exemplified throughout her life, and her brother, Michael West.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home located at 5200 West Parkway Street, Groves, Texas. The funeral service will start at 2:00 PM with a burial immediately following at Greenlawn Memorial Park located in Groves, Texas.
Marsha Sue West's life was a testament to the profound impact one individual can have on the lives of many. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
