Marquita "Markie" Vicenta Esqueda

We remember Marquita "Markie" Vicenta Esqueda, a beacon of light in our lives, who passed away peacefully on November 4, 2024, at the age of 48. Born on May 30, 1976, in Port Arthur, Texas, her presence left a permanent mark on the hearts of those she touched.

A beloved resident of Nederland, Marquita was renowned for her infectious laughter and unwavering generosity. She dedicated her life to serving others, particularly as a Mother's Day Out teacher, sharing her joy and wisdom with countless individuals.

She embodied the spirit of compassion and kindness, always ready to lend a helping hand to those in need. Her legacy lives on through her three daughters, Sara Hernandez and Luis Lopez, Elizabeth Hernandez, and Kristen Lopez and her five beautiful grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

Marquita is survived by her loving father, Ernest Esqueda; her sister, Monica Esqueda; and her brother, Marcos Esqueda. She joins in heaven her beloved mother, Amelia Segeada; her brother, Michael Wayne Esqueda; and her cherished pups, Princess and Diva.

Family and friends are invited to attend a public visitation on Saturday, November 16th, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, followed by a memorial service at 4:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made directly to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home to assist with Markie's memorial service.
