Obituary
Maria Socorro Villarreal, 84, of Groves passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at her home.
Maria was born on January 28, 1937, in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico to parents Aurora Gonzalez Montalvo and Nestor Mireles Alcorta. She received a Bachelor's Degree in accounting and she had worked as a secretary for Trailers Monterrey. Maria has lived in the area for many years and was a very active member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur; she served as president of the Damas Gaudalupanas, she helped clean the church for 20 plus years and she was a member of the choir. Maria enjoyed reading, listening to music and spending time with her family who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Isidro Villarreal Sr., her son, Alberto Villarreal, her daughter, Myrna Haynie, her brothers, Rodolfo Mireles, Carlos Mireles, Ramiro Mireles, Homero Mireles, Ernesto Mireles, Roberto Mireles, Ricardo Mireles and granddaughter, Angelica Villarreal.
Maria is survived by her sons, Isidro Villarreal Jr. and his wife, Cathy of Groves, Rafael Villarreal and his wife, Kelly of Lewisville, Hector Villarreal and his wife, Danuta of Houston, her daughter, Aurora Nortman and her husband, Michael of Groves. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday, September 19, 2021 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with a rosary to be prayed at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. A 10:30 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland, Texas.
The family respectfully requests all visitors to the funeral home or the church to wear a facemask.
