Manuel was a very dear and close friend of mine. We played football together in grade school and throughout high school. We went through two-a-days, got pounded on with three losing seasons but came together and almost won the state championship our senior year. When you go through two-a-days, football, and things like that you bond together for life! After school, he stayed in Port Arthur, and we lived close to each other. Manuel and I shared many close discussions about family and especially our kids. I know he loved Natalia, Jenna and Raymond with all his heart. I also know that the Rios family is an incredible family and I often saw his brothers, sisters, Mother & Father visiting on a regular basis. They were very close and that was special to see. I know that both Natalia & Jenna have been a blessing to him throughout his life and especially during these difficult times. My sincere condolences to Natalia, Jana & the whole Rios family, Sincerely Tom Flanagan

Manuel was truly my best friend, and Best Man at my wedding - his friendship was unconditional, enduring, and loyal.  When I close my eyes and think of him, I see a kind, caring, helpful, unselfish, and most of all, happy (infectious smile) man, who brought much joy to me.  I will miss him greatly. To the entire Rios family, I send you my deepest, most heartfelt condolences. Manuel, Rest In Peace my dear friend, and may God bless your beautiful soul.

Manuel was truly one of the kindest people I have ever met. He had a gentle, loving soul. When he became friends with my younger brother, Chris, he became friends with our entire family and we loved him. I remember he would always bring us tamales for Christmas. You will be missed, sweet Manuel. I hope dad and Kim were among those that welcomed you to Heaven.

In the State Football game against St. Pius, I was on the sidelines when Manuel caught a sideline pass. He looked me right in the eye and paused. I know he wanted to say, "hey Mike, isn't this great?" But I screamed at him and pointed to the St. Pius end Zone. And off he went. Manuel is now at Heaven's Gate and St. Peter is pointing to Heaven. Go Manuel, you earned it.
