Obituary

Lydia Bertha Ann Dill Halbert, 87, of Port Arthur passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022 at her home.

She was born on August 10, 1934 in Port Arthur, Texas to Norman A. Dill and Hazel Gonzalez Dill. Lydia graduated from Bishop Byrne High School. She was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. Lydia held several jobs through the years, but her most important job was housewife and mom.  She was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church until the merger of St. Paul and Trinity Lutheran congregations that formed Peace Lutheran in Groves.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Lydia is survived by her loving husband, James Troy Halbert, Sr. of Port Arthur; her daughter, Karla Lief and husband Richard of Pflugerville, Texas; her three sons, James T. Halbert, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Plantersville, Texas, Wayne Halbert and wife Lori of Groves, Mitchell Todd Halbert and wife DeeAnna of Groves; her nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  She is also survived by her two sisters, Gladys Haynes and husband Bobby of Conroe, Texas, Ginger Nicklas of Spring, Texas; her brother, Norman Dill and wife, Mary of Honey Island, Texas along with several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Monday, May 23, 2022 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A brief visitation will be on Tuesday, May 24 th from 10:00 AM until 10:30 AM at Peace Lutheran Church in Groves. Service to honor Lydia’s life will be at 10:30 AM Tuesday , May 24, 2022 at Peace Lutheran Church with Rev. Timothy Dinger, officiating. Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves.
