A Life Remembered

Obituary

Lucy Zolive Sclerandi

Lucy Sclerandi, a cherished resident of Nederland, Texas, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on September 7, 2025, at the age of 79. Born on August 18, 1946, in Port Arthur, Texas, Lucy lived a life rooted in kindness, faith, and selfless devotion to those she loved.

A devout Catholic, Lucy’s faith was the foundation of her life. She approached each day with grace, compassion, and an unwavering belief in the goodness of others. Her gentle strength and steadfast spirit were a guiding light to all who knew her.

Lucy was a talented beautician by trade and a proud “domestic engineer” by heart. Known for her warmth and hospitality, she had a gift for making others feel seen, valued, and at home. Above all, Lucy’s greatest joy came from being a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Her husband and best friend of 53 years, Glenn, shared with her an unwavering bond. They spent nearly every waking moment together, making friends wherever they went and finding joy in life’s simplest moments. Their unconditional love was a rare and beautiful example—something to be admired and aspired to. Together, they raised five children and played pivotal roles in the upbringing of their grandchildren, creating a strong and loving foundation that continues to guide the family today.

Lucy took immense pride in her children and grandchildren, nurturing each of them with unconditional love and tireless support.

An extraordinary cook, Lucy was renowned for her southern-style Cajun and Italian meals—each one crafted with care and served with love. Her kitchen was the heart of her home, and her recipes, often stored only in memory, became the centerpiece of family gatherings. She especially loved preparing meals during the holidays, creating cherished traditions and memories her family will hold close forever.

Lucy’s legacy of generosity, love, and faith lives on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Her presence was a gift, and her absence will be deeply felt.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Glenn Sclerandi; her daughters, Ingrid Knowles and her husband Nathen, Stephanie Sclerandi, and Angie Briggs; her sons, Glenn Sclerandi Jr. and Derek Sclerandi and his wife Kasey; her grandchildren, Alisa Sessions and her husband Cory, Chelsea Sclerandi, Marissa Briggs, Sophia Knowles, and Lee Sclerandi; and her brother, Danny Duhon.

Lucy was preceded in death by her parents, Francis Duhon and Theresa Molbert Duhon.

Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is now resting in eternal peace, her beautiful spirit carried forward by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Visitation will be held on September 12, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Mass at 1:00 PM, both at St. Catherine Catholic Church, located at 3706 Woodrow Drive, Port Arthur, Texas. Following Mass, everyone is invited to gather at Greenlawn Memorial.

I am so sorry to hear this. I just saw you at the Bridge City graduation. I remember Lucy and Glenn coming into HEB when I worked there. They were so friendly and Glenn NEVER failed to ask me about my little brother. We would then get a big laugh about it. Lucy was more quiet than he was. I worked with both her boys and have such sweet memories of them. Such a sweet family. I just can’t believe she is gone. Rest in peace until we meet again

Sorry to hear of Lucy's passing. I remember Lucy when she was working in my mother's beauty shop that was connected to our home. I saw her often since as a young teen I would bring coffee to the ladies getting their hair done. She was always friendly.

I remember Lucy from when I was just a little girl. Her Mom was affectionately, "Aunt T", to me. My mother had back surgery when I was just a toddler and she watched over me and helped take care of my Mom. I remember she told my Dad that once I could make myself a peanut butter and jelly sandwich her job would be done. She showed me how to safely get everything together to make a sandwich and to make sure I put everything up where it went. I can also remember even going to the house on Elm in Groves at a little older for Aunt T to watch me. I remember always looking up to Lucy as being beautiful and wanting to be like her when I got older. Maybe some of her siblings may remember me or not. I remember back in the early 1990's, stopping by to visit with Aunt T, as I was living on Elm for awhile. Saw pictures of Lucy and remembered for a toddler how beautiful she was outside as well as inside. Rest in Heaven Lucy.

Our Precious Lucy, This is so heartbreaking for anyone who knew Lucy. She was more like family to my family . Treated my kids as her own. There for everything for my family all our life. Truly such a gem of a person . Like a sister to my mom. My mom will surely miss her best friend! Everly is so saddened by this huge loss. She is so sad for Mr Glenn. (Her second paw paw). We love you all and praying for the days to come. Lots of love , Michelle, Dane, Gage ,Ryder and Everly Hollier

I'm so sorry to hear of Lucy's passing. I have very fond memories of Lucy playing her accordion in elementary school. I was always amazed she could play an instrument with all those little buttons. In recent years, we would run into each other out shopping. On one recent event, I, along with two friends, were having lunch at Luby's. As we left, my friend's car failed to start. She walked over to another couple leaving Luby's and asked if they knew who to call. Low and behold, it was Lucy and her husband. Both were so kind to help my friend out. I will miss meeting her out shopping. May the Lord bless and comfort her family with His peace.

We grew up living next to the Duhon's and they were not just neighbors - they were family! Lucy was like a sister to us. We have all been in touch over the years. She was the sweetest and she is going to be missed terribly. RIP Lucy and enjoy the joyous wonders of heaven!

Growing up as a child, our family lived next door to the Duhon's. I cannot tell you how many wonderful memories I have of Lucy, the family and all the fun we had. She truly was gifted as a kind, sweet, funny girl! I will miss her so. My heart goes out to all of the family. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow
