Lonnie James Cormier, Sr., 69 of Groves, Texas passed away on Saturday, January 23, 2021.

He was born in Arnaudville, Louisiana on May 29, 1951 to Gussie Rose Cormier and Hilda Arnaud Cormier. Lonnie worked at Texaco Chemical Co. for 13 years and was the owner and operator of Cormier Insurance Agency. He was an active member of the Groves Community Seventh Day Adventist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Taylor Cormier and his parents, Gussie and Hilda Cormier.

He is survived by his son, Lonnie J. Cormier, Jr. of Groves, Texas; his daughters, Tammy Cormier Martin and husband, Steve of Bridge City, Texas, Jenny Cormier of Bridge City, Texas; his grandchildren, Aubrie Martin, Seth Martin, Beau Martin, Madeleine Cormier and Vincent Cormier. He is also survived by his brothers, Jessie Cormier of Alexandria, Louisiana, Davis Cormier of Bridge City, Texas, Teddy Cormier of The Woodlands, Texas, Kent Cormier of Lafayette, Louisiana and his sister, Kathy Cormier of Lafayette, Louisiana along with several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, January 30, 2021 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Visitation will resume on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 9:00 AM at the Groves Community Seventh Day Adventist Church, 2701 W. Parkway, Groves with his Service to honor Lonnie’s life at 10:00 AM Sunday at the church. Entombment will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches. Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors to the funeral home and church are required to wear a face mask or facial covering and practice social distancing as mandated by state and county officials.
