Messages of Love

From family and friends

Becky Romero August 19, 2019
I worked with Lee Ida at the Port Arthur Independent School District. We worked together until her retirement. I remember her many stories and her work ethic. We worked together in the business office and she taught me many things. A joy to work with.

Lee Ida is no longer at the Isle of Watercrest...she is now wherever you are, and she will continue to love and watch over you. In addition to the duties of tending to home, husband, children and aged parents, she worked outside the home. Diamond Scrap Yard comes to mind, but I only knew her while she worked in acct/payroll for the Port Arthur Independent School District. She was dependable, conscientious, intelligent and underpaid. She always did her best, no matter the task...this includes when the new computer system was installed! One outstanding memory of her was the day she wore her newly sewn "buccaneer" -sleeved blouse to work and caught the right sleeve in the shredder. She completed the workday, shocking people with her ripped-up sleeve flying about her as she scurried down the hallway. The next week she wore the same blouse. She replaced the torn sleeve. For a time she, Doris Haig and I carpooled to work. Lee would rave about Emmitt like Phyllis Diller about her husband, Fang; but, we knew she loved this man. Lynn and Lillian rescued her from her lonely home in Port Arthur, and settled her into her new home built adjacent the their home on the ranch. Even when they were out of town, she was checked on every morning and her list of groceries were delivered to her. We talked once a month on the telephone the last ten years. Shingles was her nemesis. Also, she suffered a heart attack, and when she was released from the hospital her grandson, Kevin, swept her up to his home for her convalescence period. He even transported her easy chair and some of her personal things so she would be comfortable. She must be happy to be released from that weak body. My life has been enriched for having known her. Continue in your lives, and make her proud to have you as her children. She gifted you good genes. Norma Weldon Kinney

I worked for many years with Lee Ida at Port Arthur School District and enjoyed her many, funny stories in the coffee room.  She was a hard worker, loved her family and was a very proud mother and grandmother. Rest In Peace, Lee Ida.  You deserve it!
