Joy Ellen Lyday

Joy Ellen Smithy Lyday, 87 years old, of Houston, Texas, passed away on Easter Sunday on April 4, 2021. She was born in Port Arthur, Texas on December 18, 1933.

Joy was a member of the Pentecostals of Katy Church which is pastored by Pastor Rob McKee and Sister Shara McKee.

Joy is survived by her sister:  Mary Jane Tidwell of Nederland, her children:  Rebecca Stelly of Virginia, Carolyn Phelps of Lumberton, Susie Simmons of Houston, Raymond Denton of Beaumont, and Angela Denton Olvera of Houston. She was also a Loving Grandmother, Great Grandmother, and Great Great Grandmother of 11 Grandchildren, 13 Great Grandchildren, and 4 Great Great Grandchildren.

The viewing will be held at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home at 5200 39th Street, Groves, Texas 77619 on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The Gravesite Service will be held at Oak Bluff Cemetery at 618 Block, Port Neches, Texas 77651 from 1:15 pm to 2:00 pm.

Refreshments will be served at Hillcrest Baptist Church at 3324 Park Drive, Nederland, Texas 77627 after the Gravesite Service at Oak Bluff Cemetery.
