Jovanny Vanegas

Jovanny Vanegas, 28, of Port Arthur passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at his home.

He was born on July 25, 1994 in Port Arthur, Texas to Israel Vanegas and Sonia Guill Vanegas.  Jovanny was a lifelong resident of Port Arthur. He worked for Zachary as an iron worker for a number of years. He was a member of Iglesia Pentecostal Unida Hispana in Port Arthur.

He was preceded in death by his father, Israel Vanegas.

Jovanny is survived by his mother, Sonia Vanegas and his step-father, Ofelio Menn Mayorga of Port Arthur; his unborn daughter, Baby Rose; his sister, Sandy Williams of Port Arthur; his brother, Israel Vanegas, Jr. of Port Arhur; his half-sister, Lorena Vanegas of Lufkin; his half-brothers, Orlando, Julio and Jonny Vanegas all of Lufkin; his step-sister, Sarai Menn Mayorga along with several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM and Friday, March 3, 2023 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Jovanny’s life will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, March 4, 2023 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
