Joseph Gerard Drago, a beloved figure in the local community, passed away on January 9, 2025, at the age of 69. Born on March 23, 1955, in Port Arthur, Texas, Gerard dedicated much of his life to serving others as the owner of West End Hardware Company in Groves. His shop was not just a business but a cornerstone of the community, where friends and neighbors gathered to share stories and seek his expertise in all things’ hardware.

A proud high school graduate, Gerard's commitment to hard work and craftsmanship reflected in his everyday interactions and the spirit he nurtured within his store. Known for his kindness and approachable demeanor, he was always willing to lend a helping hand or provide sage advice. His passion for hardware was matched only by his love of cooking, entertaining friends, and gardening, as well as his fondness for dog, Pickles.

Gerard is survived by his devoted wife, Janet Drago, and his children: son Anthony Drago of Port Neches; daughter Angela Drago of North Carolina; stepson; Jeremy Maxwell and stepdaughter Stephanie Lindsey. He takes immense pride in his grandchildren: Aizlyn Jimenez and Bradley Espinoza, alongside his extended family and step grandchildren who brought joy and laughter to his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Lillie Drago. Their memories and lessons shaped Gerard's character and highlighted his unwavering commitment to family values and community ties.
