Obituary

Jo Ann Moser

Jo Ann Moser passed away peacefully in her home on September 13th, 2025. Although her community mourns the loss of her, we find peace in knowing that she is in the arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Jo Ann lived a beautiful life in which she put her faith and her family above everything; a true example of a Godly woman and a role model to everyone who knew her.

Jo Ann was born on July 26th, 1935 in Trinity, Texas to Theodore & Ivy Hollingsworth. The family eventually settled and planted their roots in Port Arthur, Texas. Jo Ann was "one of a kind" during her school years. She was fun, friendly and LOVED to talk to anyone and everyone, something that never changed over the years. She would often say that in school, she mostly excelled in "talking" and "eating lunch". She would say that she regularly had notes sent home in regards to just how much she loved to talk. Along with never meeting a stranger, she accomplished many things in her long life. Prior to graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1954, she was the very first Thomas Jefferson football sweetheart for the Yellow Jackets and voted queen of the graduating class of '54. She was also the Head Majorette of the Red Hussars and played the triangle in the band. After graduating High School, she went on to attend The University of Houston where she was a Majorette for the Cougars and was a sorority sister of Pi Delta. For a short time, she said she "lived it up" in college but was ultimately offered the position of a lifetime as a Flight Attendant with Braniff Airlines in the spring of 1955. The two years she flew with Braniff were described as the best years of her life. She traveled the country and met people from all walks of life. In 1957, she was met with the decision of choosing between continuing with Braniff or marrying the love of her life, Jack. She allowed the smooth talker to sweep her off her feet and they were married in December of that year. The following year, they welcomed their first child, Anne. Within 3 years Dan, Dave and Jan followed, completing their family. She devoted her entire life to her family until the moment she took her last breath. Throughout her long life, she endured several devastating losses and pain; however, she.was steadfast in her faith as a devoted member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. She handled her life and every struggle with grace and love. She was admirable in every aspect and beautiful inside as well as out. Her love was unconditional; she loved completely without complete understanding. In fact, she had one simple request that she wanted passed along from her life; always love one another.

Jo Ann is preceded in death by her father, Theodore "Ted" Hollingsworth, her mother, Ivy Hollingsworth and her brother, Jim Hollingsworth; her wonderful husband, John Henry "Jack" Moser, her daughter, Jan Moser and her grandson, Ryan William McGee.

Jo Ann is survived by her three children; Anne Moser McGee of Port Arthur, TX, son, Dan Moser & wife Vicki of Groves, TX and son, Dave Moser & long time friend Thomas "Roe" Spelino of Port Arthur, TX. Five Grandchildren; Sean McGee and wife Christine of Beecave, TX, Kelly Goff and husband Derek of Sugarland, TX, Ashley Mayfield and husband Justin of Groves, TX, Tara O'Brien and husband Sean of Hyattsville, MD and Trevor McGee of Houston, TX . Seven great grandchildren; Jaxson Keith, William Ryan, Katherine Kelly, Walker Cash, Emma Elizabeth, Caroline Ashley & Nolan Wayne. Two siblings; Jean Waterston & husband Tom Lee of Fort Davis, TX and Judson Hollingsworth & wife Marian of Lake City, CO along with a multitude of friends and extended family whom she loved so dearly. Our family would like to extend our gratitude to Jo Ann's caretaker, Claudia Williams for ensuring her comfort in her final days with us.

So sad to see the news that Jo has passed but I know that Heaven has just gotten a lot more fun! My Mom (Gloria Ryden Ault) and Jo were great friends since Braniff Days and I loved Jo (and Jack) so much. They were both such good, positive, strong lovely people. xo

How I will miss you, Jo, my beloved sister-in-law for 65 years. We went through it all, the heights, the depths, but you never lost that sunny outlook. I'll miss the long phone calls (I mostly listened 😊) after I moved away. All good things must end. Fly free, dear Jo. Til we meet again, I love you. Always will. P

I met Jo Ann and the Moser family when I was 20 years old. She was always like a second mother to me. She was the one of the sweetest, kindest, and most loving people I’ve ever known. I’ve kept in contact over the years and I am so grateful I was able to visit with her before her passing. My heart is heavy and I will miss her. My thoughts and prayers are with the Moser family during this time of loss and mourning. Love Always, Kirt Gaspard She has been called home and I hope to see her and her family again one day.
