Jimmy Vernon Derouen

Jimmy Vernon DeRouen, 82 years old, passed away on November 14, 2023, at his home in Groves, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy was born on August 5, 1941, in Port Arthur, Texas where he spent his formative years. He went on to attend Thomas Jefferson High School in Port Arthur and was a graduate of Lamar University with a degree in Business. He later became an insurance adjuster and retired in 2000 from the State Farm Insurance Company. He was a member of The Temple Church in Port Arthur where he faithfully watched online services when he was unable to attend in person.

Jimmy is survived by the absolute love of his life, Charlotte Lee DeRouen, sharing 58 years of marriage, his one daughter, Ceseley DeRouen Garner (James) of Frisco, Texas, his one son, Marc DeRouen (Christy) of Port Arthur, Texas and his one sister, Barbara Hilbrich (Roy) of Jewitt, Texas. He is also survived by one grandson, Grant Garner (Katherine) from Las Colinas, Texas and with the expectation of a great granddaughter (Caroline) in the next few days. He is also leaving a host of in laws, nieces, nephews, and many great friends and neighbors.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Otha and Hattie DeRouen.

The earthly things that brought Jimmy great joy were enjoying family at the Beach House in Crystal Beach, his love for the Llano deer lease and hanging out with his hunting buddies.  He also loved to spend time enjoying the great outdoors at Sabine Pass and he was also a lifelong Texas A&M enthusiast.

Visitation will be on Thursday, November 16, 2023 from 4:00 PM till 5:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A celebration of Jimmy's life will be at 5:00 PM Thursday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson with Rev. James Garner, (Jimmy's son-in-law) officiating.  Arrangements for cremation are entrusted to Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
