Janis Marie Evans

1945 ∼ 2023

On March 17, 2023, Janis Marie Evans, beloved Aunt, and friend to all, was called home to glory at the young age of 77 with her “daughter/niece Krickette”, at her side in Temple, TX.

Janis was born in Port Arthur, TX and gained a degree at Baylor University in Education. She was an educator for 35 years before retiring to take care of her elderly parents. Janis had a passion for helping others and was the strongest, most compassionate and encouraging person placing others needs above her own. She was a true servant of Christ who she loved and testified to her entire life. She had sass, class and loved getting to know new people as she knew no strangers. Her knowledge and servant hood will be passed down through generations and her spark and love of life will forever be remembered by those who knew her. Janis was known for her love of teaching, endless dedication to helping others, her sense of humor and infinite wisdom, her love of animals, and obsession with fluffy scrambled egg sandwiches. She leaves behind a legacy that will endure for generations to come.

Janis is survived by her Niece and husband Kristian & Charles Rivera with their three children, Alex, Noah and Hannah; Niece Paige Arnold with her two children; Niece and husband Julie & Tim Dougher with their three children; Niece Michelle Barras; and Nephew and wife Kris & Carrie Barras with their two children.

Janis is pre-deceased by her Parents Henry and Lois Pace; and her Sisters Peggy Barras and Cheryl Broussard.

Please join us in celebrating the life of Janis on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at 11:00 am at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, 5200 39 th St., Groves, TX 77619. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 from 5 pm until 8pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Dear sweet Ms.Sage I have so many fond memories of you from my days at Travis. You were the sweetest funniest and sassiest teacher on that primary hall. Loved visiting your classroom with my little ones so they could see all your classroom pets. Also was thankful I could bring the snakes a meal or two everytime they mowed the vacant lot next to the Pre-K building. You were a blessing to know. Rest in paradise dear friend.

Oh "my hot mess". You will be so missed here at Brookdale- it will just never be the same. You smile was infectious and your love for others was obvious. I am so glad that you shared your last year here with us as part of our family. I am blessed to have been there until the end and I will always carry that in my heart. I know you are dancing and singing with Elvis and those that went before you. You are free... Until we meet again- Elizabeth "Krickette's friend"

Ohhhh Jan! My heart aches that you are not here for me to drive around to doctor's appointments, pick up for family dinner nights, to go shopping at all our favorite stores & fun nights had at the house while CC deejays all our favorite songs. I miss your voice, hugs and kisses! I already miss all the stories you loved to tell of me growing up and all the fun we had along with endless memories we made. I miss my phone ringing and seeing your name flash across my screen. I miss your voice & your sassiness. My world has suddenly stopped as yours just began running & dancing on those streets of gold! We love you more than all the sand on the beach and all the stars in the sky! You will forever be our greatest love and this last year and a half our most fun! We will miss you infinitely and thank you so much for allowing us the opportunity to love you until God called you home. I will forever cherish a lifetime of experiencing your unconditional love, support, wisdom & encouragement. As we always said, "I love you a bushel & a peck, a bushel & a peck and a hug around the neck"...until we meet again. I will forever be your Krickette & you will forever be my Jan!
