Obituary

Janet Fay Woods

Janet Fay Woods, a cherished mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2025, in Port Arthur, Texas. Born on October 2, 1952, in Port Arthur, she lived a life dedicated to service, love, and creativity. Janet, a proud Certified Nurse’s Assistant and Activities Director, pursued a fulfilling career as a Director of Activities at Pelican Bay Nursing Home and other nursing homes within the Golden Triangle area. Her commitment to caring for others and her role in improving the lives of residents was a testament to her character and compassion.

Janet was not only esteemed in her professional life; she was also a devoted Christian of faith who found joy in sharing the Word of God with everyone she encountered. Her favorite Bible verse, Psalms 46:1, encapsulated her spirit: "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." Through her steadfast faith, she inspired many and made meaningful connections throughout her life.

An artist at heart, Janet had a passion for painting that brought her great joy and allowed her to express her creativity. Her works reflected her vibrant spirit and touched the hearts of those fortunate enough to experience them. Family was at the core of Janet's existence, and her pride and joy were her seven grandchildren: Chloe, Reese, Peyton, Michael, Georgia, Rylee Jo, and Davee Woods. The love she poured into her family formed the foundation of her life.

Janet leaves behind her cherished family: her sons, Clint Woods and his wife, Heather; Jason Woods and his wife, Stephanie; and Tyler Woods and his wife, Jodi. She is also survived by her mother, Dreba Norris; her brother, Dale Norris and his wife, Brenda; and her sister, Brenda Hebert and her husband, Kent as well, as many nieces and nephews. Janet's indelible legacy is strengthened by the love and memories shared among her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Norris a decorated veteran of World War II. Janet’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

I met Janet about a year ago by chance and we both began sharing our testimonies. I remember that day because I was going through some things and her testimony was exactly what I needed to hear. We began to pray and weep, we both had tears streaming down our faces! It was a memory I will always remember. Working with the public you meet a bunch of people and sadly forget them just as quickly, but not Janet! I believe God sent her to me that day, and I will NEVER forget her! May she rest eternally in the loving arms of our Blessed Savior Jesus Christ. To all her friends and family, you are all sincerely in my deepest thoughts and prayers.

If you knew Janet, you loved Janet. She was our friend/neighbor for 20 years. We will miss our conversations, laughs, and prayers tremendously. Janet was always there for anyone, always helpful, and the first to say "It is going to work out and be all right." She made you feel at ease with her easy going, yet very caring self. Our neighborhood won't be the same without her. We look forward to seeing her again when God calls us home. Our condolences to the family.
