James M. Smith, age 101, of Groves, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, born on October 17, 1923, in Blox, Texas, and raised in Kirbyville, Texas.  James lived a life dedicated to family, faith, and service.

James retired after 37 years of service as a Laboratory Technician for Texaco Chemical. He also served on the Board of Directors for Neches Federal Credit Union. He proudly served in the United States Army, showcasing his commitment to his country. James also found joy in deer hunting, a hobby that reflected his love for the outdoors.

 James was devoted to his faith and was a member of Park Central Church of Christ in Port Arthur.

 James is survived by his step-daughters, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended relatives.

 James was preceded in death by his parents, Green and Myrtle Smith; his wife, Mary Smith and other relatives.

 The family of James Smith would like to give a special thank you to all of his Angels who assisted him for many years.

 A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service at 10:00 a.m., at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 5601 39th St, Groves, Texas. Following the service James will be laid to rest at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
