Obituary

James Reginald French, fondly known as Reggie, 62, of Groves, Texas passed away on December 27, 2023 at the Medical Center of Southeast Texas surrounded by family.

He was born on December12, 1961 in Beaumont, Texas to Donald Lee French and Lois Kuehl French. Reggie has been a resident of the area for most of his life, the past 25 years in Groves. He was a Bricklayer with the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsman Union Local #5 for over 40 years. Reggie held many titles in life, from Bricklayer to Superintendent but his favorite role was being a loving father and husband. Reggie also enjoyed spending his time riding motorcycles, fishing, and traveling.

Reggie was preceded in death by his parents, Donald Lee French and Lois Kuehl French, his sister, Leandre French and his four brothers, Donnie French, Lee Jay French, Larry French and Carl D. French.

He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl Bailey French of Groves, his daughter, Cheyanne  French of Groves, his son, Justice Guidry of Groves and his granddaughter, Jade LeFort. Reggie is also survived by his sister, Debbie Maxwell and husband Howard of Beaumont along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, January 2, 2024 from 5:00 PM till 7:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Reggie’s life will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday, January 3, 2024 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches with his last ride in a motorcycle hearse.

Serving as pallbearers will be John French, Chris French, Donnie French, Stephen Maxwell, James Maxwell and Randy Buckner. Honorary pallbearers will be Ernie Skeens, Glynn Owens, Ryne Austin and D.C. Branch.
