James Arnold Bledsoe Jr.

James Arnold "Jim" Bledsoe, Jr. , 96, of Groves passed into the Lords' presence on Thursday, February 24, 2022 at his home.

He was born on May 8, 1925 in Port Arthur, Texas to James Arnold Bledsoe, Sr., M. D.  and Gladys Canada Bledsoe. James was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1942. James proudly served in the U. S. Army Airborne during WWII. He earned his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Mississippi State College. James retired from Gulf Oil in 1985 after 30 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and two brothers; and his wife, Mary Louise Campbell Bledsoe.

James is survived by his daughter, Janis Colletti of Groves; his son, James A. Bledsoe, III and wife Betty of Port Neches; five grandchildren, Sam David Colletti, Elizabeth Colletti, Carrie Berg, James Bledsoe and John Bledsoe along with numerous great grandchildren.

He was an avid fisherman, loved by all who knew him, and always had a positive outlook on life. His great personality and smile will always be remembered by all.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Jims' life will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches under the direction of Clayton Thompson Funeral Directors.

Jim Betty Ann James,  I’m so so sorry for the loss of your dad & grandfather. Although I didn’t know him I feel like I did just from the things that have been shared with me. Looks like he lead a long and wonderful life. He was obviously a wonderful father is Jim is a wonderful man. I’m sure he was a tremendous blessing and y’all will miss him very much. I’m sure it’s good to know where he is now and that he is in the arms of his creator. Thank you Jesus. Love y’all warmest condolences, Mary

Mr. Bledsoe was a big help to me when I started cutting hair at Broussard's barber shop in Groves in the 60's. I have never forgot his giving me a chance when I was getting started. Thanks again.
