How sad to learn of Gene’s passing. Such a nice gentleman. He called  me about a year ago and we reminisced about our childhood and neighborhood. I’m so happy we got to share those memories.  Rest In Peace my friend - what a joyful reunion of old neighbors you got to experience!

Mr. Hickey was a wonderful person. I had the utmost respect for him. He was my supervisor for many years, Charles (Charlie) Brown.

Gene has been a neighbor to us for almost 35 years. No. He’s been more than that, the neighborhood’s father figure. Gene has watched our family grow up into adults and was always asking about them. We will miss him terribly.

I worked with Gene for several years, he was a man of respectable character and was a man of God. A true privilege to work with “doctor Hickey” as he was called at work by many. He was proud of his children!!
