Gloria Ann Courville

Gloria Ann Courville, 75 passed away on Friday, November 24,2023 at Lizete’s Loving Care Home in Port Neches. Gloria was born at St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, on March 10, 1948, to parents Ethel C. St. Romain and Mervin J. Ortego. She was a lifelong resident of Southeast Texas. She graduated from Bishop Byrne High School in 1966, and she was a proud member of the Bishop Byrne Colleens. Gloria attended Port Arthur Business College, where she received a secretarial degree. She was an active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, working with the ACTS Team and Altar Society, and eventually became a Eucharist Minister. After the closure of St. Peter’s, she became a member of St. Charles Catholic Church, where she continued her faith. Gloria especially loved cooking for her family, who will miss her dearly.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Ethel and Mervin Ortego; her husband, Charles “Ray” Courville; and her sister, Betty Guillory.

Gloria is survived by her children Chad Courville and his wife Michelle of Nederland, Shanna Courville of Nederland, her sisters Joyce Starke and her husband James of Glasgow, Gail Borel, and her husband Wade of Groves. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Abigail Trevathan, Carly Courville, Rachel Courville, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 28, 2023, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, and the Divine Mercy will be prayed at 6:00 PM at the Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at St. Charles Catholic Church in Nederland. The celebrant will be Rev. John Hughes, and the burial will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches
