George Anne Ballard "Georgie", 93, of Port Arthur passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022 at her home.
She was born on November 13, 1929 in Mobile, Alabama to George Shelton Jones and Emogene Murray Jones. George Anne has been a resident of Port Arthur for over 74 years. She retired as Cafeteria Manager at Sam Houston Elementary School, during her 23 years with Port Arthur Independent School District, she also worked at Thomas Jefferson High School, Edison Middle School, Woodrow Wilson Middle School. Georgie was a very accomplished children’s book author and poet. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
"Georgie" was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, James A. Ballard, Sr. husband of 56 years also, her sister's Leslie, Bobbie and Jackie, and her granddaughter Jacquelyn Allgood also passed away 8/25/22., her son in law Alvin Bolton.
She is survived by her four daughters, Jeannie Michon and Helen Bolton both of Brady, Texas, Vickie Fleming and husband Patrick of Spring, Texas, Deborah Pittman and husband Roy of Port Arthur; her two sons, James A. Ballard, Jr. of Brady, Texas and Thomas Shelton Ballard of Port Arthur; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.
Her Granddaughter Michelle Gilbert has been close to her granny an her 5 children Tony, Jasmyne, Abel and AJ and especially Mateo as well, Georgie always had house full with her great grandkids and their friends, Georgie was known to be everyone ones Granny. She will be terribly missed by everyone she impacted so many life’s, Georgie sure was a 1 of a Kind. (YEEEHAWWWWW!!! )
Visitation will be on Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Georgie's life will be at 2:00 PM Saturday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Rev. Phil Sigman will be officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
