Frank Elwood Andrews

1943 ∼ 2018

Frank Elwood Andrews

Frank Elwood Andrews, 75, of Houston, TX passed away at Silverado Memory Care in Sugarland. He was born on June 15, 1943 in Port Arthur, TX and was raised with a strong Catholic faith. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson in 1961. Frank continued his education and graduated From Lamar Tech obtaining his Bachelors Degree in 1965. Being a natural born salesman Frank worked as a paper goods sales representative calling on grocery stores in Houston and here in the Golden Triangle. Seeking bigger opportunities in Houston he became a real estate broker and then a licensed auctioneer. Frank always had a passion for acting and was cast in several movies and TV shows. This required him to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild and was still a member up to his last day. One of his proudest moments was when he produced and directed the play “Come and Hear Senator Huey P Long”. It was performed in Galveston at the Grand 1894 Opera House in 1986.

Frank is survived by his daughter Rachel Andrews and nephew Brent Robinson, and their families.

He always enjoyed visitors including family and many loyal friends (including “Yellow Jacket” graduates from high school days).

A visitation will be held on Monday, Dec. 10 from 10 a.m. – Noon at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur. Burial at 2:00 p.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.

In lieu of flowers, please consider sending donations to any of these organizations helping Texas families in honor of Frank Andrews.

I am at a loss for words at your passing. Our history is deeply rooted in our parents solid friendship many years ago. You were the light in their lives.  So long old friend. May you rest in the peace of Christ.  Blessings Rachel. God be with you.

I am happy for Frankie. I know he has suffered the past year and a half. I hope he is dancing in heaven. Rachael has been the est daughter through all this. She has kept the caregivers doing their best. Many great memories of Frankie. RIP

We all have our special memories of Frankie. The time Frankie, Paul, Ida and I traveled to Baton Rouge to see our friend and classmate, Sue Terrell, and reconnecting with another classmate  Bill Holman was a special treat for all of us.  Touring the capital of Louisiana in Baton Rouge with Frankie was so memorable . His knowledge of not only Huey P. Long, but of Louisiana political history,  was like reliving history.   Our laughter  was electric,  our shared experiences were  enlightening,  and our extra special friendships forged.   All the memories of working with Frank during Mardi Gras Port Arthur, as well as assisting him with his auction business in Houston,  are times that I will never forget.   Life is such a  mystery! We can enjoy  casual acquaintances in early life, have them disappear from our radar for a while, and then reconnect  for an even stronger bond later.  Rest in peace, Frank!   You will always be remembered! ❤️

Another great Angel in Heaven! Rest In Peace my dear friend Frankie and so glad you will  reunite with brother Louis. You were a great kind and compassionate man and I  am so pleased to be a small part of your life.

You, Louie, Johnny and Don were clubbing in Houston the night I met you ALL!!! Don and I have been together every since...so it's easy to remember that our friendship goes back 39 1/2 years. I have such fond family memories...you, Rachel, Don, CJ and me. You were always so proud of Rachel...she was your "little princess" and she has grown up to be a beautiful, loving person. We are all proud and blessed to have known you Frank.

So many years of friendship growing up in Port Arthur & then so many more years in Houston! I could fill this page with "stories": good old days with you, me & Louie, TJ High School, Keyhole Club, our Las Vegas trip, our single days in Houston, Halloween parties, Ragin Cajun, Jimmy Johnson Reunion in the Keys & so many more, which are now "fond memories". Glad we got together one last time this summer at Silverado. See you on the other side Frank.

We graduated when Thomas Jefferson was a great school and Port Arthur was a great city. You came back and helped PA at a time when we needed you. R.I.P. Old Buddy.
