Florence Clara Wigley, 97 years old, who lived most of her life in Sabine Pass, TX, passed away in her home in Lumberton, TX on April 18, 2025.

She is survived by her brother Walter Shedrock, two daughters, Barbara Gross in Portland OR, Debra Wigley in Lumberton TX, her son Captain Arthur A. Wigley, Jr., his wife Tina Wigley of Sabine Pass, Tx. Also, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.

Comfort & peace to all the family, she was a beautiful lady & so very kind to all of us. Many memories of slumber parties & one particular Thanksgiving dinner that I wasn't sure what some of that food was, loved all the family & Barbara was in my big graduation class of 14. 97 blessed years, she is going home to be with Jesus, love & God bless you all.

Florence has been like a second mother to me since the Wigley family moved in nearby. Since I was only a 3rd grader, she influenced much of my childhood. She was kind to all and even let me visit her when her kids were in San Antonio during the summer. For our senior trip, Barbara and I finally got to go to San Antonio together and Florence was one of our sponsors. I’m sure we tested her on that trip, but she managed to love us anyway. She was very loved and will surely be missed. My thoughts and prayers go to Barbara, Debbie and the rest of the family.

So sorry to hear of Aunt Florence‘s passing. It’s been many many years since I’ve seen her, but have always remembered her fondly. Especially, from when I was a little girl and y’all lived in Port Arthur. I remember going to the beach with her and uncle Arthur, (and his big Cadillac), my mom (Veronica), dad, brothers and sister and all my of Aunt Florence’s kids. I was just a little girl then but that memory sticks in my head. I remember spent the day hanging out at the beach for the day. It was so much fun. Many, many years ago, but a memory that still lingers in my mind. Prayers and my deepest condolences, Debbie.
