Eva Gaspard Fontenot Auffurth

Eva Gaspard Fontenot Auffurth, 91, of Port Arthur passed away on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at Rose Place in Port Arthur.

She was born on October 22, 1929 in Vermilion Parish, Louisiana to her parents, Emilien Gaspard and Louise Callahan Gaspard. Eva has been a resident of Port Arthur for over 70 years. She worked as sales associate in the Cosmetics Department at J. C. Penney for 20 years and her favorite past time was meeting with friends and dancing at the Pompano Club. Eva was a longtime member of St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in Port Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three sisters, Angel “Teet” Garry, Ann “Mine” Trahan and Alicia “Nan” Faulk; her three brothers, Willis Gaspard, James Gaspard, Doris J. Gaspard and Nolan Gaspard; her first husband of 52 years, McClure Fontenot and her second husband of 19 years, Bud Auffurth.

Eva is survived by her three daughters, Becky Breaux and her husband, Mickey of Port Neches, TX, Peggy Mundschau and her husband, Steve of Montgomery, TX, Sheila Dickey and her husband, Jim of Kingwood, TX; her son, Tom Fontenot of Port Neches, TX; her two step-sons, Roger Fontenot and his wife, Judy of Orlando, FL and Mike Auffurth and his wife, Paula of Port Neches, TX; her grandchildren, Chan Breaux, Chris Cameron, Andrea Fontenot, Misty Breaux, Chad Cameron, Rachel Gamsby, Jared Yeary, Brianne Gravatt, Erin Leznicki along with 13 great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Eva’s life will be at 2:00 PM Wednesday in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
