A Life Remembered

Obituary

Emily Claire Provost Broussard Dobbs (aka Mom, Momems, Momils, Memoms, Mims and M&M) met Jesus Christ Saturday, June 6, 2020, along with meeting her son Kim who died at age 10, her husband Chuck, parents, sisters and brother, and many other friends and family.  She was a mother of nine and adored by all.  This woman was simply beautiful with so much love such that she made each and everyone of her offspring feel like her favorite.  We were all her favorite.  She was absolutely our favorite.  She loved like Christ did and does and was a light to all when times were dark. She was always there for us.  Always.  She opened her home to anyone who came through her door as well as grandchildren who lived with her.  We look forward to honoring her legacy for the rest of our lives and wait for the day to see her again in Heaven.  We love you our dearest Mom, Mom, Momems, Momils, Memoms, Mims M&M.

Emily was a true matriarch, leaving behind her children: Niki and Larry Breedlove and their 3 children; Patti and Danny Castille and their 3 children; predeceased by her son Kim Jude Broussard; Terri and Tom Vogds and their daughter; Lori Broussard; Sindi and Bruce Terrien and their 2 children; Marci and Mark Simpson and their 8 children; Brit and Barbara Broussard and their 3 children; and Jody and Martie Broussard and their daughter and her stepdaughter Pam Perkins. That would be 21 grandchildren, 8 grandchildren-in-law, 16 great-grandchildren. She was the wife of Charles H.Dobbs and George S. Broussard.

She was the daughter of Velma and Emile Provost, sister of Laura Ann Provost and Emile Provost, Jr (Son) and his wife Myrthie and many nieces and nephews, countless friends and her newest fans at Holland Place Assisted Living and Heart of Texas Hospice. She was deeply loved and will be immensely missed.

How appropriate that she left us on D-Day as we are sure she is “storming” the beaches in Heaven right now to the point of St. Peter needing to call Jesus for back up so he might get a word in edgewise! We love you Momems!!

Messages of Love

From family and friends

Cynthia Toutcheque June 23, 2020
My condolences to all of you. I loved your mother as far back as I can remember to my teens over 50 years now. We always had great conversations and how could you not respect a single woman raising that many kids on her own??? These were kids that were active in school and in church. What an amazing mother! My only regret is that I just found out a few minutes ago that she passed while I was online looking for 6 upcoming funerals to attend. I lost 2 classmates from Port Acres, 3 acquainteces from Port Acres and 1 from Nederland. Had I not been looking for these services, I would not have seen Emily's. I was out of town when she passed and returned on June 8th but never heard about her passing. I most definitely would have been there had I known. I am sorry I was not present to support all of you. My prayers and my love to all of you, especially Lori Cindy Toutcheque

I remember you so well, from the many times I visited Marci at home. I recall how much like home it felt that you treated me not like a guest but just "one of the kids." Your heart was a big as the Texas sky, and I know you will be greatly missed as you were greatly loved. To the family, especially Marci, I am so sad for you, but I know you remain strong in your faith to be reunited one day--when you are, say Hi and give a hug for me if I'm not there yet. Love, Liz Miley

Emily was for real. Generous, loving, caring, welcoming, devoted to those she loved and those who came into her life. My late husband Floyd, a cousin not too far removed and a class mate at St. Mary school and High School (Graduating as Bishop Byrne Section One), shared many memories. I came from Minnesota with no connections here except a job. When I married Floyd I was welcomed into the St. Mary/Bishop Byrne familiesi Emily showered me with love, affection, and gracious friendship as if I had always belonged. Would that we could all pass on her spirit of Faith, Love and Understanding to friends, loved ones and all those whom God sends into our lives.

I feel i knew Emily thru the words of her stepdaughter, Pam. Her creativity, her strength, her zest for life, her love of family and the joy she brought to Pam's dad, Chuck. A wonderful woman that will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers for all that loved her.

I will miss Emily so much. I loved visiting with her and missed our visits due to the quarantine of Covid 19 virus. I could still call her which I did quite often. The world lost a very dear soul. So many memories with our kids. You are ALL in my prayers and thoughts. Love to all her family.
