Elizabeth “Liz” Ann Bourgeois Cormier, 61, of Groves passed away on Monday, November 28, 2022 at her home.

She was born on August 8, 1961 in Port Arthur, Texas to Gene Bourgeois and Constance “Connie” Fontenot Bourgeois. Liz was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1979. She worked at Gulf Credit Union for a while and was a devoted homemaker in raising her family. Liz was a longtime member of St. James Catholic Church in Port Arthur.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

Liz is survived by her loving husband, Blaine Cormier of Groves; her father, Gene Bourgeois of Groves; her daughter, Jenny Boudoin of Nederland; her sons, Jason Boudoin and wife Jessika of Groves, Trayce Boudoin and wife Katy of Port Neches; step daughter, Shanna Cormier of Houston; step son, Daniel Cormier of Lumberton along with her eight grandchildren, Karys, Layla, Maesyn. Delaney, Jaylee and Allee Boudoin, Davin and Deegan Snell.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Friday, December 2, 2022 at St. James Catholic Church with Rev. David Edwards serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Clayton Thompson

Liz was a true embodiment of "Leviticus 19:18- Love your neighbor as yourself". My strongest memory of her is, when our family moved here from New Jersey, she was always kind and friendly to us. We felt like foreigners but she made us feel like family. And I found that even into adulthood this remained true. I was always proud to call her my cousin. With much love cousin, for we take much comfort in Luke 20:38- "For He is not the God of the dead but of the living, for all live to Him."
