Elda Oyervides Orta

Elda Oyervides Orta, 80, of Groves, Texas passed away on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on June 28, 1940 in Pedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico to her parents, Enrique Oyervides and Aurora Salinas Oyervides. Elda has been a resident of the area for over 63 years.

She was a devoted homemaker in raising her nine children along with her husband, Manuel. Elda was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur, where she was a member of Damas de Guadalupana for many years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Raul Oyervides and Rolando Oyervides, her husband, Manuel Ruben Orta and her daughter, Anna Orta.

She is survived by her four daughters, Carmen Blanton and her husband, Mark of Port Arthur; Maria Morrell Orta of Groves; Elizabeth Reiter and her husband, Barry of Willis, Texas; Elda Orta of Groves; her four sons, Henry Orta of Groves; Ricky Orta and his wife, Diane of Katy, Texas; Manuel Orta and his wife, Jodie of Groves; Gabriel Orta and his wife, Amanda of Friendswood, Texas along with 32 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and two on the way.

Visitation will be on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Elda’s life will be at 11:00 AM Tuesday, October 13, 2020 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland. Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors are required to wear face mask or coverings and practice social distancing as mandated by the state and county officials.
