Obituary

Earl Martin Kile Jr., 94, of Sabine Pass passed away on Friday, September 4, 2020 at Oak Grove Nursing Home.

Earl was born on February 26, 1926 in Gueydan, Louisiana to parents Mary Girthel (Johnson) and Earl Martin Kile Sr.. He was a lifelong resident of Sabine Pass, was a member of Sabine Pass United Methodist Church and he was active in his community, a member of Dick Dowling Lions Club. Earl served his country very proudly in the US Navy. He was a Terminal Manager with Ashland Oil Company, retiring at the age of 62. He had built over 150 birdhouses, giving many of them away to his neighbors of Sabine Pass. Earl enjoyed going fishing and he loved spending time with his family who will dearly miss him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Girthel Kile Sr., his brother in law, Bert Karrer and his loving wife of 71 years, Ameda Kile, who passed away February 8, 2020.

Earl is survived by his sons, Earl Martin Kile III of Houston, Darrel Kile and his wife, Mary of Sabine Pass, James Wesley Kile of Sabine Pass, his brother, Carrol Kile and his wife, Martha of Bridge City and his sister, Mary Sue Karrer of Marion. He is also survived by his grandsons, Chris Kile and his wife, Christy, Eric Kile and his wife, Shawna and his great grandchildren, Nori, Jasper, Owen, Grayson.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, September 7, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home, with Rev. Nicole Boddie officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves with military honors.

Due to the Covid-19 crisis we are currently in, all visitors to the funeral home are required to wear facemask or coverings and practice social distancing as mandated by State and County officials.

Earl and I were friends for over 20 years. I met him in 1998. We reconnected through Facebook after losing touch for a few years. I will miss him. He was a fine man.
