Dorothy Mae Domingue Sheppard, 96, of Groves, Texas was born on April 5, 1923 in Port Arthur to Whitney and Edaize Domingue. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Groves, TX.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, William Emmett Sheppard, Sr. and son, Glenn Earl Sheppard, brother, Glaston Domingue, and sisters, Ruby Bowden and Mary Holladay.

She is survived by her son, Emmett Sheppard, Jr. and his wife, Kathy of Groves, daughter, Marilyn Hebert, and her husband, Charles of Baton Rouge, LA, daughter-in-law, Paula Daigle Sheppard of Groves, grandsons, Jason Sheppard (wife, Reagan) and Lance Robertson (wife, Jennifer) of Groves, TX, Josh Sheppard (wife, Kerri) of Port Neches, TX, granddaughters Mary Catherine Evans (husband, Gerald) of Austin, TX, Jennifer Powers (husband, Tim) of Manhattan, California, Jaime Young (husband, Jeremy) and Joy Nation (husband, Michael) of Groves, TX. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Ashley Sheppard, Chandler Curtice, Libbey Borne, Kailey Sheppard, Kyler Sheppard, Jaren Young, Jenna Young, Ashley Young, Kamren Nation, Keaten Nation, Randall Robertson, Reese Robertson, Ciera Lanier, Spree Powers and great-great granddaughter, Quinn Curtice.

A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, August 30, 2019 at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m., with a rosary to be prayed at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Vigil Service will follow the rosary at 7:00 p.m. at funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Immaculate Conception/St. Peter Catholic Church in Groves, celebrant will be Reverend J. C. Coon. Entombment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.

Mrs. Sheppard was our neighbor in Groves for many years. She always meant so much to me and my family, and we loved her so much. One fond memory I have was of introducing her to my husband, and she brought him a delicious strawberry pie. She had a way of making everyone feel special. We enjoyed walking over to her house and visiting with her. She made everyone feel like family. We lost a wonderful lady! My heart and prayers go out to her beautiful family!

I was a neighbor of the Sheppards for many years. She was a very sweet lady. I will never forgot her lemon pound cakes that she would bake and bring to me while they were still warm. The world has lost a great lady!
