David you lived your life on your own terms, one that was to be full joy and laughter. We were separated by miles yet connected in our hearts. You were a cherished member of our family and you will be missed. Thank you for your service not only to our country but our family as well. God speed.

In reading the condolences, it is amazing how cherished David was by his friends, Port Arthur and Austin family, and relatives. I fondly remember the "Library", the Almost Famous yacht, and many more. But the thing I remember and cherish most were the years I spent in Austin and seeing David on a mostly daily basis. I would stop by his condo for morning coffee and we would solve the problems of the world if we had not completed the challenge the previous evening. He was a brother, father figure, friend, and confidant. He took me under his "wings" when I was moving to a new town and made sure I acclimated to the "Austin" lifestyle. I know he was proud but maybe thought I acclimated a little too well at times :) I was humbled and proud that he asked to see me as his health challenges worsened and I will forever remember and cherish our final conversations that were truly of the David and Carl variety. R.I.P. brother David and "Thank You" for the memories. Love you brother. CR

I’m thankful for David making the effort to join Stickley/Dunn family gatherings in Louisiana for several years... I’m thankful for David’s Port Arthur family, his church family, and his  mom’s side of his family- (I thought Aunt Evelyn was so beautiful and had such class).
