A Life Remembered

Obituary

Chris Ray Tomplait

Chris Ray Tomplait, born on January 31, 1956, in Port Arthur, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 6, 2025, in the same city that he called home throughout his life. In his early years, he worked as an operator at Goodrich.

A man of deep faith, Chris was very active in his church community, leading praise and worship at Faith Harbor Assembly of God. His passion for serving extended beyond the church walls as he was involved in prison ministries for many years and was proud to be part of a Christian Gospel Group that toured across the country, sharing his love of music and faith.

Chris cherished time spent with his family, often creating joyful memories with his grandsons, Hunter and Rex Dubois, by playing music, watching football and attending wrestling events together. His artistic side shone through in his daily painting, and he enjoyed hobbies such as playing pool, fishing, and crabbing, always seeking to make the most of every moment.

He is survived by his devoted spouse, Donna Tomplait; his daughters, Jennifer Hart and Crystal Dubois, and her husband, Chad; his grandchildren, Hunter and Rex Dubois; his sister, Renee Hedges, and her husband, Martin; his brother, Todd Tomplait, and his wife, Tammy; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who will cherish his memory forever.

Chris was preceded in death by his father, Leroy Tomplait; his mother, Minnie Effie (Crochet) Tomplait; and his sister, Dee Lane McBroom. His legacy of love, faith, and dedication to family and community will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held at Melancon Levingston Funeral Home located at 5601 39th St, Groves, TX 77619 on October 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at the same location starting at 3:00 PM. All who knew Chris are invited to celebrate his life and share their memories.

Some of the best times growing up were when our families would be together eating good food and singing gospel songs. Those harmonies still live in my soul. You'll be missed by so many. We're praying for all the family.
