Obituary

Charles Tory Canfil, of Zavalla, formerly of Nederland, died January 3, 2020 at St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont, Texas when he lost his courageous battle with lung cancer.

He was born April 11, 1961 in Port Arthur, Texas the son of Charles Weldon Canfil and Ruth Stilwell Arnaud.

Tory was married to his childhood sweetheart, Rita Gilbert for 37 years.

They had two sons, Charles Dustin Canfil of Clovis, New Mexico and Chasen Canfil of Groves, Texas.

Tory was preceded in death by both his parents.

In addition to his wife and sons, Tory is survived by two sisters, Tracy Ivy of Groves, Texas and Terri Rankin Williams of Berryville, Arkansas.

Tory is also survived by a stepfather, Gene Arnaud and a stepmother, Betty Canfil plus many nieces and nephews.

Tory was a loving husband, father, brother and friend. He loved his family and friends, his dog, Foxy and his church. He was a member of The Johnson Missionary Baptist Church in Zavalla, TX.

Tory will be missed by many.

There will be a memorial visitation on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home.
