Obituary

Carmen Lona Martinez, 76, of Houston passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at Houston Hospice in Houston.

She was born on August 31, 1944 in Port Arthur, Texas to her parents, Demetrio Lona and Virginia Miranda Lona. Carmen graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1962 and Port Arthur Business College. She has been a resident of Houston since 1968. Carmen retired from Shell Oil Company as an executive secretary with over 28 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Carmen is survived by her loving husband, Arthur Martinez of Houston; her son, Jim Martinez of Houston; her four sisters, Mary Lona of Houston, Rose Ramirez of Conroe, Annie Soto of Groves and Louise Lona of Houston; her three brothers, Roy Lona of Katy, Paul Lona of Port Arthur and Robert Lona of Kingwood, numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be on Saturday, July 10, 2021 from 11:00 AM till 1:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. Service to honor Carmen’s life will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 10, 2021 in the Thompson Memorial Chapel at Clayton Thompson. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery in Nederland under the direction of Clayton Thompson.
