Betty Jean Kibbe-Smith, 88, of Port Arthur, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Oak Grove Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was native and lifelong resident of Port Arthur, born on January 16, 1931 to parents, Cecil (Armentor) and Alvin George Kibbe. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1949 and was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Groves. She enjoyed working in her garden and cooking for family and friends. Betty was a loving person who will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1995, Bernard Smith and her sister, Gloria VanCleave.

Betty is survived by her son, Brett Smith of Port Arthur, TX, her daughter, Joycelyn Vincent of Palestine, TX, her five grandchildren, Kendal Smith, Blake Nichols, Jeremy Gibson, Spring Gibson, Brandon Gibson and along with 11 great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 10 AM until 12 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, with a rosary to be prayed at 11 AM at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 at 12 PM at the funeral home, celebrant will be Rev. J.C. Coon. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Garden in Bridge City.
